The Rifle Volunteer – General Drought

With a ball and chain campaign to release a single every month for year, The Rifle Volunteer have been steadfast in honourably sticking to the plan. Single number 8, “General Drought” was released last week and was given the honour of its own video clip, showing the boys decked out in their regular Edwardian finery, throwing out some moves and indulging in a little soul-searching ceiling staring. “General Drought” follows a trail of similar sun-heat-thirst themed songs that would have this London-based band better suited to changing their name to the French Foreign Legion, filming themselves atop flailing camels while gazing at the pyramids. But we dig the encumbant metaphors here — the benignly tortured ‘life’s like a desert and the pub’s just shut’ vibe that The Rifle Volunteer softly shuffle through song.
